Your Buying Strategy of the Day: Tuesday October 21st, 2014

Sorry for the delay everyone. Brick Fest Live in Cincinnati was our most short-staffed event to date. There were 6 staff members and under a dozen temp-staff running the whole thing. It’s hard to find the time to write my blog during conventions.

Anyway, you’ve probably already heard about it, but I can’t neglect to tell you this one. Walmart has a misprint in their ad:
http://weeklyads.walmart.com/flyers/walmartusa-specialpub?sf_any=true&flyer_run_id=34173&type=2&locale=en-US&postal_code=95610&store_code=4309&chrome=broadsheet#!/flyers/walmartusa-specialpub?flyer_run_id=34173
Page 3 shows 75053 The Ghost instead of 75048 The Phantom in their weekly ad sale price of $19.88 from $24.97. The Ghost is actually a $90 set and some Walmarts are honoring the mistake. The part out is over $200 if you can get any for the $20 price. I’ve even put out a local APB to my friends that I will pay $30 for any copies they can obtain for me. That’s a free $10 per. Target price matched one but today denied any additional copies I tried to buy. Toys R Us is supposedly also matching it. This deal is very YMMV so don’t get your hopes up. I didn’t drop everything on Sunday and drive around even though it’s a great deal for sure. If you see it and can get it for $19.88, there is absolutely no reason not to get it.

As far as flesh and blood deals, ShopKo has everything (save for clearance items) BOGO 40% off or 20% off of MSRP. They also have free shipping and no tax. Their sales usually last longer than a week as well so this one might stick around.

Target has 60052 Cargo Train for $186.99 or $177.64 with RedCard discount, online only limit 8.

I wouldn’t recommend getting this one to part out, but that’s over $20 off a large set which will most definitely go up in price after it eventually retires. If you are looking to stash some, this is a pretty good opportunity.

And finally, the best for last. Walmart finally dropped their crazy price on 9525 Pre Vizsla’s Mandalorian Fighter by about $100. It is now $34.99 online, limit 5.

This isn’t one to part out as the value is $69.87, but at $15 below MSRP for a set that is widely regarded as retired/retiring, this is a good investment to hold for a few months.
