Your Buying Strategy of the Day: Monday December 30th, 2013

We’re still waiting for the current sales to end to that the major retailers will show us some new tricks. TRU has BOGO 40% off various themes, Target has 20% off various themes (curiously not the same discount), Walmart has just about nothing and neither does Kmart. All outlets basically have Speedorz 50% off and I expect those to be dirt cheap by February.

After passing on this deal numerous times, I am forced to let you know that Kmart has several sets from 25%-30% off that all have decent part out values. I’ve chosen 3 to talk about:
70400 Forest Ambush: http://www.kmart.com/lego-castle-forest-ambush/p-004W005481700001P?prdNo=11&blockNo=11&blockType=G11
is $9.29 down from $11.99 and parts out for $19.71 or 2.12x.
70007 Eglor’s Twin Bike: http://www.kmart.com/lego-legends-of-chima-8482-eglor-s-twin-bike/p-004W004700289002P?prdNo=15&blockNo=15&blockType=G15
is $17.99 down from $24.99 and parts out for $44.23 or 2.46x.
76007 Malibu Mansion Attack: http://www.kmart.com/lego-super-heroes-iron-man-8482-malibu-mansion/p-004W005481713001P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2
is $29.99 down from $39.99 and parts out for $76.89 or 2.56x.

So I guess these prices aren’t too bad actually. I mean, we’ve seen better, much better. But the part out ratios are still pretty good, especially on the Malibu Mansion. The limit is 5 on any of these sets, and from my experience loading a cart, it appears you need to get somewhere around $60 worth in your cart before Kmart offers you free shipping. It really shouldn’t be a problem though if you are getting any of these sets in quantity.

They also have a few City, Creator, and Star Wars sets on sale. You can see the whole list here: http://www.kmart.com/toys-games-blocks-building-sets-building-sets&20_LEGO/b-26053?filter=discount_Brand&previousSort=ORIGINAL_SORT_ORDER&viewItems=50
but don’t scroll down to the bottom…the prices on the sold out sets will make you cry. I’m not sure that those sets ever actually reached those rock bottom prices, but if they did, I’ll have to check the Kmart site more often.
