Your Buying Strategy of the Day: Monday December 9th, 2013

I’m going to try to make these more concise like yesterday’s. You’ll have to let me know which you like better.

Today’s deal is also from Target. You’ll need to make your purchases in-store for this one and you’ll also need a smartphone. The first thing you need to do is download Target’s “Cartwheel” App. This app has daily deal coupons which can be redeemed and scanned on your phone’s screen at checkout in-store. Starting today there is a deal for 15% off all Creator sets. Creator generally has terrible part out values, even worse than City. But with a wide selection like “all Creator,” I’m sure we can find something.

Well I did. Ever since I saw 31012 Family House, I knew it was an instant classic. It is by far my favorite Creator house and I feel it will be very expensive someday. That’s not my game though, I want to part sets out. This set is $69.99 new and it doesn’t appear there are any in-store discounts on it. The coupon gets it down to $59.49. The Part out value is $117.17 which is right at 2x. It’s not a great part out percentage, but it’s a set that not many people are going to want to or even get a chance to part out. There is a limit of 4 Creator sets total that you can use this Cartwheel coupon on. I would get 4 of this set, part out 3 and keep one sealed.

By the way, Cartwheel coupons stack with most any other in-store deals. And finally, don’t forget your 5% off with the RedCard. That brings your pre-tax cost to $56.52 making the part out percentage 2.07x.
